Conference on 'Women and Culture' in the college in connection with
the valedictory of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the college
Arts
Fest and Christmas Celebrations
An arts fest was organized on the day
of the valedictory function of the Golden Jubilee Year. Students of the
B.Ed., M.Ed., and T.T.I. Courses actively participated in the '
Kala Sandhya' which lasted up to mid
night.
Inter Collegiate Athletic
Meet
The college is proud to have
organized an Inter Training Collegiate Athletic Meet at Mannanam on 24th
March 2007 as part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations. The athletic meet was
a grand success with the active participation of teams from 25
training colleges under the Mahatma Gandhi University. The Athletic meet
assumes significance in view of the fact that it was the first Inter
Training Collegiate Athletic Meet not only in the history of the M.G. University, but also in the history of the Kerala State.
The second Inter Training Collegiate
Athletic meet was also organized by the college at Nehru Stadium Kottayam
as part of Golden Jubilee valedictory Celebrations. It was a grand
success with the active participation of teams from 28 training colleges
under the Mahatma Gandhi University. Dr. Jose James, former Registrar and
Director Physical Education, M.G. University inaugurated the Athletic
meet and received salute.
St. Joseph’s Training College,
Mannanam, Kottayam became the overall Champion. H.M. Training College
Randarkara, Moovattupuzha was runners up. Individual championship was
shared by two in both men and women section. They are in women section
Binutha M, St. Joseph’s Training College, Mannanam, Kottayam and Priya
Thomas, St. Thomas College of Teacher Education, Pala. In men section
Abdul Sathar, St. Thomas College of Teacher Education, Palai, and Vineeth
Raj, Sahodaran Ayyappan Memorial Training College, Poothotta.
Study
Tour
To facilitate the
exposure of students to a wider social environment, we organized study
tours to different places in India. Our students, in different batches
visited Delhi & Agra, Vagamon, Thenmala, Kanyakumari and Kumarakom under
the guidance of their teachers.
Sports Day
The annual Sports
Meet was conducted at St. Ephrem’s School Stadium. Fr. Luka Chavara CMI,
the Principal St. Ephrem’s HSS Mannanam inaugurated the meet.
Onam Celebrations
Onam was celebrated
in a colourful manner in the College on 5-9-2008. The teachers and
students whole-heartedly participated in the Onam celebrations.
Adoption of Nirmala Balavadi
The college has
adopted the nearby Nirmala Balavadi (pre-school) and is supporting it
financially. A seasaw costing Rs 9000 was donated to the Balavadi on
24-8-2007. Competitions were conducted for the kids on the same day. Many
toys, story books, picture books, drawing books, and crayons were also
gifted.
Honouring
the meritorious students
An ‘Award Day’ is organized each year to felicitate the
meritorious students of the previous batch and to distribute the
Scholarships and Endowments to them.
Parent
Teacher Association:
The General Body Meeting of the PTA
was convened on 15th December 2007. The schedule of B.Ed. course during
the current academic year was discussed in the meeting. The parents
assured their full support and cooperation for the smooth and effective
functioning of the college.
Alumni
Day
A cordial get together
of the former students of the college was organised on 13th
December 2008. The good old friends of the B.Ed. Course in different
academic years shared the nostalgic memories which flashed in their minds
while they gathered in their alma mater. It
was decided to conduct the annual meeting of FOSA every year on the Second
Saturday of December.
Social gathering.
A grand get-together of the alumni of the college and the Family
Mela of the present and former teaching and non-teaching staff was
conducted as part of the Jubilee Celebration.

celebrations of this year was conducted on 5th September 2008. Rev. Fr.
Mathew Chandrankunnel, was the Chief Guest of the day. The effort of the
students made the event a memorable one.
Samavarthana
Samavarthana, the
sacred ceremony organized by the institution, was conducted on 15th
october 2008.
Student
Achievements
The dance team of the college has won second place in the Golden
Jubilee Inter B.Ed. Choreography competition held at Titus IInd Teachers
College, Thiruvalla on 18th March 2008.
Fr. Shaji John and Muhammed Jirshad P.K. have won 3rd
prize in the All Kerala Inter Collegiate Shuttle Badminton Tournament
conducted at St. John the Baptists College of Education, Nedumkunnam on 11th
January 2008.
Fr. Shaji Johnn has won second prize in men’s singles and Miss
Saritha Sebastian has won second place in women’s singles in the Golden
Jubilee inter B.Ed college Shuttle Badminton tournament held at Titus
IInd Teachers College, Thiruvalla on 19th March 2008 |
