Principal's Message

St. Joseph’s Training College founded in 1957 by CMI Congregation is continuing its service to the nation. Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder of the CMI Congregation, was a great visionary who established schools during the first half of the 19th century. Now, there are several educational institutions at Mannanam.

The teacher education institutions under CMI management at Mannanam offer T.T.C, B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses.  Teacher education institutions are of prime importance for they groom the future teachers. Quality of education in general and that of teacher education in particular do receive attention of stake holders. However, the teaching-learning paradigms evolve and these changes are to be reflected in the teacher education curriculum.

Change in teacher education curriculum is often resisted by the personnel for they enjoy the routine of the status quo. Change is often the outcome of research and policy decisions. Any desired change will not bear fruits, if not taken in the right perspective. The impact of curriculum revisions has been examined by researchers. They all point out that the bias, prejudice, hasty implementation, incompetent personnel, and several other factors add to the problem of change.

At St. Joseph’s the management and staff make every effort to produce teachers who are competent to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

With best wishes
