Counselling Service
Students require timely guidance and support to cope with the highly
competitive- life situations and employment market. The institution renders
counselling service to the needy students. Prof. Jose Augustine serves as
the Director of the Counselling Centre in the college. Students are
encouraged to meet him and get necessary help. For each student a data sheet
is kept in the counselling centre. Besides, faculty members spare the
available time to spend with students to understand and solve their academic
and personal problems.
Grievance Redressal Cell
It is
natural that grievances occur in social behaviour. To suppress them makes
one unhealthy and weaker. Grievance Redressal Cell is functioning in the
college to settle such grievances. It does justice in three tiers.
For
students
Tier
I : Class teacher
TierII : Students’ Advisor
Tier
III : Staff Council consisting of the Principal (Convenor), Students’
Advisor/Senior Staff member and the concerned class teacher.
For
Staff
Tier
I : Staff Secretary/ Superintendent
Tier
II : Principal
Tier
III : Management Council consisting of the Manager (Convenor), Principal and
Staff Secretary/Suptdt.
Any
matter of complaint or act of indiscipline shall be submitted to the
concerned class teacher. If the complainant is denied justice, he/she shall
approach tier II. If justice is denied there, the third tier can be
approached. Similarly, if there is any grievance that need justice for
teaching and non-teaching staff, it shall be reported to Staff Secretary by
the faculty or to the Office Superintendent by the Administrative staff.
Guidance and Placement Cell:
A
Placement cell functions in our college in connection with the career
guidance bureau, with a view to facilitate the placement of students who
complete the, B.Ed. course and Computer education. Students can register
their names with the cell and get informed of the job opportunities.
Mentoring System
The
college has a mentoring system. The entire student body is divided into 5
groups, each consisting of 30 students. A faculty member is put in charge of
each group. The group members are given necessary guidance and direction as
and when circumstances demand. The faculty in charge of one group will
change after a stipulated period and another member will take the charge of
that group. Thus, an inter change of the mentors takes place among the
groups. Each mentor teacher gives special attention and care to the students
assigned to him. Every mentor is required to keep a record of students under
his/her care.
Support to the Physically
Challenged
Physically challenged students get special care and attention from the
faculty and the co-educators. Special orientation is given to the rest of
the class to have a sympathetic approach towards them. Two seats are
reserved for blind students. Two blind students were given admission to B.Ed.
during 2006-07,and 2007-08 respectively. During teaching practice the blind
students were sent to the nearby school for convenience. They were
supported by the peer group. The blind students were provided special
facility and extra time for writing examination with the consent of the
university.
